The Latin American Coordination of Rural Organizations, CLOC-Via Campesina, reference point for La Via Campesina in Latin America and the Caribbean, expresses its solidarity with the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) in the face of the attack by Israeli occupation forces on the production fields and seed bank facilities located in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine.
The UAWC is a member of La Vía Campesina in Palestine. The UAWC’s seed conservation work has been an example for our movement of caring for and multiplying native and creole seeds as the basis for food sovereignty for peoples.
We reiterate that these attacks by Israeli occupation forces represent a serious violation of human and peasant rights. We denounce these acts that use food as a weapon of war, as part of the strategy of genocide against the Palestinian people.
