The Latin American Coordination of Rural Organizations (Coordinadora Latinoamericana de Organizaciones del Campo) Cloc/Via Campesina condemns the Israeli occupation and Israel’s formal declaration of war in the Gaza Strip, part of the Palestinian territory.
The outbreak of a new conflict between Israel and Hamas on October 7 has renewed the world’s attention on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which began more than 75 years ago with the occupation of the Palestine by Israel. Since 1948 with the creation of the State of Israel, Palestine has been subjected to colonialism, forced exodus, extermination and ethnic cleansing practices. In these three quarters of a century, Israel has destroyed more than 500 towns and villages, seized more than 5 million acres of land and killed nearly 15,000 Palestinians. In recent days, Israel has cut off electricity, water and food in Gaza, a criminal blockade against the people of this region.
We express our deep concern over the Israeli onslaught against the Palestinian people. We join the thousands of voices around the world demanding a stop to the aggression against Palestine. We demand a halt to the acts of terror against the civilian population, and we demand the recognition of the Palestinian state.
In particular, we want to extend a message of solidarity to the Union of Agricultural Work Committees, member of La Via Campesina, farmers and peasants caretakers of Palestinian seeds, olives and territories.
Put an end to genocide!
Yes to peace!
We demand the recognition of the State of Palestine!
Long live free Palestine!
Against all forms of colonialism, unity and international solidarity!
